The character of the area
Little India is louder, denser, and more sensory than most of central Singapore — spice shops, gold jewellers, and garland stalls spill onto the five-foot ways, especially around Deepavali.
Key sights
Sri Veeramakaliamman Temple and the Tekka Centre anchor the district; the surrounding shophouse blocks are some of the best-preserved on the island.
Food
Banana-leaf rice and roti prata are the area's strengths, and prices here are consistently among the lowest in central Singapore for the quality on offer.
Getting there
Little India MRT station (NE/DT lines) sits at the district's edge, with the main strip a short walk in.
